ROYAL VISIT TO THE HIGH CONSERVATION VALUE AREA (HCVA) – CHENGAL BESAR TREE, SOUTH PASIR RAJA FOREST RESERVE, DUNGUN

Kumpulan Pengurusan Kayu Kayan Terengganu (KPKKT) was honoured to serve as a strategic partner during the Royal Visit by the Regent of Terengganu, together with the Chief Minister of Terengganu and the State Secretary, to the Chengal Besar Tree at the High Conservation Value Area (HCVA) in the South Pasir Raja Forest Reserve, Dungun, on 11 May 2026. The visit provided an opportunity for all parties to witness one of Terengganu’s most valuable natural treasures, renowned for its ecological, historical, and conservation significance.

As a designated High Conservation Value Area (HCVA), the site plays an important role in biodiversity conservation and sustainable forest management. Its protection is aligned with the principles of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), particularly Principle 9, which emphasizes the conservation of High Conservation Values (HCV), including biodiversity, critical habitats, ecosystem functions, and natural heritage.

Throughout the program, KPKKT supported the event through field coordination, logistical arrangements, forest access preparation, and on-site operational assistance to ensure the visit was conducted smoothly. The organization's involvement reflects its continued commitment to sustainable forest management, environmental conservation, and strategic collaboration with government agencies to safeguard Terengganu's forest resources for future generations.
